There is a reason
We are all met with choices in our lives
Just like the rings found within the trees,
We age from the inside.

There are those who forget their roots,
And leave them buried beneath the dirt.
We cannot change the past
But we can learn from who we were

We all have scars
That exist in our past
They won't fade, or disappear
They were made to last

To remind us all
Of who we were
What set us free
Or what keeps us tied down to the earth

Those who live,
With no regrets
Will never grow
And cannot expect

To reach new heights
To make their mark
Instead they will remain
Trapped within the dark

Just think of all the time
You've wasted on
Trying to forget
What's shaped you into the person you've become

We've all come to a fork in the road
Where the smoke blocks the path of every way home
We are only left with the broken pieces
Finding our way, by what we believe in

We create the difference
We create the change.

So with each turn,
Of every page
I will learn
From my mistakes.

And at the end
Of this chapter
I will be prepared
For what comes after.
